Hello! My name is Grace Koh, and I teach Construction Management at Western Carolina University. I graduated with my Master of Construction Management Degree at WCU, and our graduate program was such a positive experience (and so transformative for me) that I was thrilled to return to teach there. I’m currently in the process of obtaining my Doctor of Education through WCU’s EdD program in Educational Leadership, with my anticipated graduation in May 2028.
Beyond construction, I have 25 years of experience in marketing, business operations and logistics, finance, graphic/web design, and print production.
I have an extremely unique background, and I'm not your typical construction professional. I started dabbling in construction about 12 years ago. I fell in love with the process through renovating an old auto body shop into commercial offices...my passion soared from there. I've been working in the industry professionally for nearly 8 years. Prior to academia, I was a Project Manager for a small General Contracting firm in Asheville overseeing residential, commercial, and industrial renovations and builds.
Prior to making the pivot to academia, I owned small farm just outside of Asheville (about an hour and half from campus). I raised mini goats, chickens, a mini donkey, and a mini horse. I bred and sold baby goats; and YES...it is exactly as magical as all of those adorable viral videos you see of baby goats.
My family moved to North Carolina 2018 from Los Angeles, so it was quite the transition from fast and busy city life to the countryside. I currently split my time living in Cullowhee and Asheville as I cultivate my teaching practice. I have two amazing and impressive children, and we all really love the peace and beauty that mountain life in Western North Carolina brings.
