we were your stereotypical asians growing up. think 'data'
and his dad from goonies.
my dad always had at least three cameras slung around his neck at any
given moment. i think his favorite thing to say in was, "once more!" which he'd repeat eight million times (as he
kept snapping more pictures). there are only a handful of things i think of fondly when it comes to my dad...his ridiculous
nature of over zealous picture taking is one thing i'll forever be thankful for.
even though
enduring his amateur photo shoots at random (in uneventful places) was tedious in the moment...i love looking back at the
many pictures we have from our time growing up. this was well before the era of digital cameras. it must have cost a fortune
to constantly have slides made or prints developed. if this is why my wardrobe consisted of hand-me-downs until i moved out,
it was well worth it.
he never had any formal training...nor have i. photography is just something
that has always been a hobby of mine. he gave me my first manual SLR when my hands were hardly large enough to hold it.
a canon eos 350 when i was a child. it was great.
i'm very stubborn in so many ways. perhaps
this is why i'm unable to get on board with digital photography. personally, i've just never liked it. i've seen many people
do tremendously beautifulthings digital. i won't lie...at photo shoots, i love the instant gratification that comes
from seeing the shot. yet i can't seem to relinquish my affinity for b/w manual photography. i haven't taken photos in
years, but i hope to one day pick it up once again. these are some of my shots. i'm certainly an amateur (and know quite little
of photography). i just know what i like when i see it.
i have a thing for bridges.
next? perhaps trains.
